The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has unveiled ‘Ask Until You Know’ (ALMOOL), an innovative interactive learning platform powered by Artificial Intelligence designed to improve mathematics education at the tertiary level. This initiative was developed in partnership with TeamKairos, an educational technology company based in South Korea, and created by Ms. JiEun Janet Song, the founder of TeamKairos.

The ALMOOL application offers step-by-step guidance for solving mathematical problems, promotes deeper understanding, and customizes learning experiences to meet individual student needs. In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Ms. Song explained that the platform is designed to function with minimal infrastructure, making it a scalable solution suitable for universities across Africa.

The ALMOOL-UCC project is spearheaded by UCC’s Department of Mathematics and Science Education and incorporates a digital assistant that provides undergraduate students with real-time, context-specific feedback in core mathematics courses. Ms. Song, who specializes in learner-centered pedagogy and AI systems, emphasized that the platform combines state-of-the-art technology with culturally relevant education. “ALMOOL is not only about advanced AI but also about creating a tool that listens to learners and adjusts to their needs,” she stated. The educational content was co-developed by Ms. Mina Song, a strategic planner at TeamKairos.

Ms. Song highlighted that the platform is tailored to Ghana’s academic environment and represents a pioneering effort in integrating scalable AI solutions into African higher education. The vision behind ALMOOL is to make sophisticated, student-focused learning tools both accessible and effective.

In a separate interview, Dr. Isaac Benning, the UCC local Pilot Lead, revealed that the platform is currently being piloted in four mathematics courses: CME111 Applied Algebra and Calculus, EMA202 Advanced Algebra and Calculus, EMA310 Vectors and Mechanics, and MAT405 Ordinary Differential Equations. “ALMOOL enables students to practice mathematical concepts and enhance their problem-solving abilities through instant feedback,” he said.
