In the broader context of Ghana’s ambitious digital transformation agenda, Ghana Digital Centres Limited CEO Dzifa Gunu has emphasized the critical role of private sector partnerships in expanding digital innovation hubs and driving job creation through technology.

This commitment aligns closely with the government’s recently unveiled National Digital Transformation and Emerging Technology Strategy, which focuses on harnessing artificial intelligence, digital skills development, and inclusive growth to position Ghana as a continental tech leader. Central to this strategy is the expansion of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centres and digital innovation hubs that serve as catalysts for entrepreneurship and employment.

During a working visit to Cyber1 Defence Communications, a private ICT firm specializing in cybersecurity, blockchain, AI, and software development, Mr. Gunu underscored how such private initiatives complement government programs like the One Million Coders Program, which aims to equip one million Ghanaians with coding and digital skills. Cyber1’s free ICT training and cybersecurity awareness efforts exemplify grassroots capacity building that supports Ghana’s digital ecosystem growth.

Co-Founder David Gyedu highlighted the firm’s impact in transforming the lives of youth who might otherwise remain idle or vulnerable, reinforcing the importance of public-private collaboration. Founder and CEO Foster Dogbe echoed this sentiment, calling for stronger partnerships to accelerate Ghana’s digital economy and youth empowerment.

This collaboration reflects Ghana’s broader digital policy framework, including the Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, which prioritizes entrepreneurship, digital skills, universal access, and emerging technologies to drive inclusive economic growth. Supported by international partners such as the World Bank and UNESCO, these efforts aim to create an enabling environment where private sector innovation and government initiatives work hand in hand.

As Ghana rapidly digitalizes, with over 68% internet penetration and significant investments in broadband infrastructure, the synergy between government programs and private enterprises like Cyber1 Defence Communications is vital to sustaining momentum and achieving the country’s vision of becoming Africa’s AI and digital innovation hub
